Admissions Procedures
STEP 1 – VISIT or CALLWe highly recommend a school visit and a tour if it is possible. During the visit the student will meet with an admissions officer, who will answer any questions the student may have about ALCC, the programs and the teachers. If the visit is not possible, we encourage a student to call and talk to our admissions officer.
STEP 2 – APPLICATIONSubmit a completed admission application form to ALCC and pay the $150 application and placement test fee.
STEP 3 – ADMISSIONS EXAMINATIONOnce all of the required documents have been received and reviewed, the ALCC admissions officer will schedule the student for a placement test. This test could be taken either in house or online.
STEP 4 – INTERVIEWThe prospective student may be scheduled to have an interview with the instructor. This could be either a face-to-face interview or a telephone interview.
STEP 5 – ACCEPTANCE AND PAYMENTAfter the test and interview, the student will be placed in a level which is suitable to him/her based on the result of the test and oral interview with the instructor. When all steps have been completed and fees paid, the student will be welcomed into ALCC.
Enrollment Policy
Age requirement:
These are programs for adults who have graduated from high school. A student must be at least 18 years of age or older to participate.
Visa Requirements:
Obtaining the necessary information and a valid study permit is the responsibility of the student. Once an acceptance letter has been issued, it is the student’s obligation to come to the registered program on the first day and thereafter. The school is required to inform immigration authorities if the student fails to report to school on the program start date.
Attendance Requirements:
Attendance records are carefully kept at the school for all students. Any failure to come to school without an acceptable reason is not allowed. A poor class attendance rate can affect the student’s status as a full-time international student in Canada.
English Only Policy:
We have a strict English only policy in the classrooms and computer lab. Students are required to speak English only during class instruction and social activities.
Tests:
There is a placement test on the first day of the term which will determine the student’s level of study. A mid term test is administrated in the fifth week and a final exam in the last week to monitor learning progress.
Evaluation:
Students are evaluated by each instructor according their test results and performance throughout the term. Students will receive a written evaluation and suggestions for their future study.
Health Insurance:
Health insurance is obligatory while attending the program at ALCC. Students must pay the insurance premium within the first week of the program unless they are covered under their own plan.
