Academic Advice

Our staff is always available to help our students make decisions about their studies at and beyond ALCC. We welcome students to discuss their language study plan, post-secondary education and even their career goals. ​We are always on hand to offer guidance and advice on any academic issues that may arise while at ALCC. 

Pre-Arrival

We want to make sure students have all the information they need before arriving in Canada. To ensure this, students can download the iCent app. Student can access a pre-arrival checklist, complete an airport arrival form, find airport landing information and much more.

Airport Pick Up

Don't worry about how you will get from the airport to your accommodations. Give yourself peace of mind by using our airport pick up service. We offer a ride from the airport, regardless of when you arrive.

Orientation

One week prior to a student’s start date, they will receive information about their orientation. On day one students will bring their documents to our Admissions office. Students will receive a tour of our school, meet their teacher, and enjoy an introduction to learning at ALCC. Our academic stream students will also receive a technical orientation on our communication platform and learning management sites.

Homestay

Homestay families welcome international students into their homes and hearts. Living with a Canadian family allows you to practice your English, learn Canadian culture and provides extra support as you adjust to a new life in Canada. Students will get a private room, a space to study and 3 meals a day, while being able to create great new memories for life.

Student Health Insurance

All students studying and residing in Canada must have health insurance. We provide a comprehensive health care plan with our long-term health insurance partner to ensure the best care.  Students will need to sign up for health insurance unless they can provide proof of coverage.

University and College Placement

​Graduate applications are often complicated and difficult to complete. We can help you ensure that your application stands out when applying to a graduate program. Let one of our academic advisors help you find the best suited graduate program for you and guide you through the full application process.

Secondary School Placement & Support

We have helped many international students enroll in both public and private high schools. Along with our partner organizations, we help prospective school students find the right place for them. Once they are enrolled in the school of their choice, we help the students plan an after school support program to suit your academic needs. We work to ensure that students have a positive experience at school and receive the support needed to help them succeed.

Custodianship for Minor Students

We offer a safe and welcoming environment for younger students. If you wish for your child to study in Canada, and can not accompany him/her, we can provide custodianship. Find peace of mind by allowing our trusted and experienced custodians take care of your loved ones.

Post-Graduation Housing

Many students choose to stay in Nova Scotia after completing their language program. If you need assistance finding affordable housing with verified hosts and flexible terms we refer students to Happipad. Happipad is a free home sharing program to help match homeowners with vetted renters.
