Pre-Arrival & Pickup

Pre-Arrival App

We want to make sure students have all the information they need before arriving in Canada. To ensure this, students can download the iCent app. Student can access a pre-arrival checklist, complete an airport arrival form, find airport landing information and much more.

Pre-Arrival Communication

One month before a student's start date, they will be sent our Student Handbook. One week prior to a student’s start date, they will receive a welcome email with information about their first day.

Airport Pick Up

Don't worry about how you will get from the airport to your accommodations. Give yourself peace of mind by using our airport pick up service. We offer a ride from the airport, regardless of when you arrive.

Orientation

Day One

On day one students will bring their documents to our Admissions office. Students will receive a tour of our school, meet their teacher, and enjoy an introduction to learning at ALCC. Our academic stream students will also receive a technical orientation on our communication platform and learning management sites.

Welcome Events

ALCC hosts a monthly Welcome Assembly to introduce students to the exciting events and activities planned for the month. We also organize Morning Socials for students to relax, connect, and build friendships in a fun and welcoming environment. Lastly, we host a monthly Newcomer Night for students to engage with the local community.

Homestay

Homestay families welcome international students into their homes and hearts. Living with a Canadian family allows you to practice your English, learn Canadian culture and provides extra support as you adjust to a new life in Canada. Students will get a private room, a space to study and 3 meals a day, while being able to create great new memories for life.

Health Insurance

Student Health Insurance

All students studying and residing in Canada must have health insurance. Students can access comprehensive health insurance with Guard Me. Students will need to sign up for health insurance unless they can provide proof of coverage.

Academic Advice

Our staff is always available to help our students make decisions about their studies at and beyond ALCC. We welcome students to discuss their language study plan, post-secondary education and even their career goals. We are always on hand to offer guidance and advice on any academic issues that may arise while at ALCC.

Academic Support

ALCC Students who need extra help meeting their program’s academic requirements can access personalized support outside of class time to strengthen their skills and boost their confidence.

We have helped many international students enroll in both public and private high schools. Along with our partner organizations, we help prospective school students find the right place for them. Once they are enrolled in the school of their choice, we help the students plan an after school support program to suit your academic needs. We work to ensure that students have a positive experience at school and receive the support needed to help them succeed.

Our tutoring service is tailor-made to suit your needs. We develop a study plan that works for you.

We offer private, semi-private and group sessions. Our online service is customized to help students access our qualified teachers on evenings and weekends in a range of subjects. We can help students improve their language skills, assist with assignments, and build confidence in their academic ability. Our goal is to help students succeed in an English learning environment.

Do you love to chat? We have got you covered.

Students will be involved in both group and class discussions where they will exchange ideas, learn new vocabulary, and present point of views and opinions. We offer a safe learning space with direct feedback from your teacher. Come join our program to speak more freely and with confidence! Students will cover many different topics that will help them acquire English/French they can use in the real world.
